Ways to Stop Snoring

The very first anti-snoring device, the ingenious tennis-ball-in-a-sock, which helped people sleep on their sides and not their backs has been joined by some three hundred more devices invented in the years since. Different apparatuses, on the other hand, cause an unpleasant sensation if someone snores. Normal breathing requires an unrestricted air flow, so anything unusual in the passageways can cause problems.

Some individuals refuse to take snoring seriously, but it can be the symptom of a serious condition. People who snore can suffer from sleep deprivation. Snorers can develop more serious health issues, including obstructive sleep apnea. Sufferers of snoring often feel humiliated by the loud noise it makes which often wakes their sleep partner.

But, obstructive sleep apnea, is a different situation, where snoring is continuously being interrupted because there is a complete obstruction of breathing to the patient. Each episode averages ten seconds in length, and since they can occur at least seven times per hour, anywhere between 30 and 300 episodes can happen each night. Such episodes will reduce the level of oxygen in the blood, which drives the heart to pump harder. Immediate effects include a forced light sleep so that he may keep his muscles in tensed state which helps facilitate a regular flow of air in the lungs but then results in unrelaxed rest. Because of this, the person will become drowsy during the day. This in turn creates a decrease in functioning and may lead to raised blood pressure and an enlarged heart.

Snoring usually concerns the tissues involved in breathing but there are a couple of reasons why the airway is narrow, which is itself, a good contributor to issue snoring. This may be due to enlarged tonsils, elongated soft palate and thick soft palate, and abnormality in the tissues at the back of the throat which can all cause obstruction in the air passage. Anything that relaxes the muscles in the throat too much will cause snoring, and since alcohol is a relaxant and sedative, it certainly does relax the muscles of the throat, and therefor can contribute to snoring. Thus, regular intake of alcohol close bedtime can cause disruptive snoring.

Sleep apnea is often associated with snoring, so as to receive the best treatment we recommend getting properly diagnosed. It has not been ruled out that snoring is inherited, and that biological factors may be a reason for the constriction on your throat. The underlying part of the nose, termed to as the bridge is the nasal septum and when this partition is quite crooked or there is any nasal congestion due to this, snoring will occur.

Surgery that applies a permanent treatment has proven to be highly effective. If you frequently snore, see a doctor. Snoring may not be the result of a life-threatening condition, but the condition may become more severe over time.
